When you make a vow to God, don’t delay fulfilling it, because He does not delight in fools. Fulfill what you vow.

So it would have been nice to stay in the youth center for another day due to the fact the weather was a bit malicious out, but a little rain and wind doesn’t hurt the soul. We all prepared by putting on our rain jackets, booties, etc and started out into the unexperienced conditions. So far up until this morning, the weather has been absolutely beautiful rain free for the prior 15 days. Mitch had a rough time starting, falling to the ground after accidentally losing balance. The light drizzle caused our group to move at a slower pace and the 5 to 10 mph cross wind added even more deceleration. For some considerable amount of time I watched all of the cloud formations in the distance, and the precipitation that began to fall fairly heavy southwest of our current position. Soon enough, after battling the conditions we passed through the city of Dighton. On the way through as I was waiting for Wade at a nearby gas station an older gentleman pulls up behind our trailer and expresses that he was a Fiji (or still is) back in 1932 at Boulder, CO. After a couple of questions, he remarked that he was once the bookkeeper for his chapter and served some other various positions as an undergraduate. From the gentleman I not only learned how to pronounce the city of Dighton, but I fully now understand the slogan, “Not for College Days Alone”. Once we left Dighton, the weather transitioned rapidly, and the good ole sun popped out. Sure felt relaxing, now if these cross wind disappeared it would be prime conditions. Me and Wade took control of the front, then traversed through the metropolis of Ness City. Staying on Kansas state highway 96, we completed the ride into Rush Center after cranking out 30 more miles and seeing several other TransAm cyclists who were all carrying at least 50lbs of weight. Looked like a huge tank. Unfortunately due to some lodging problems we made a consensus to chip in some money and purchase a hotel at Best Western several miles southwest of Rush Center in Great Bend. The night was relaxing filled with a gorge session at Pizza Hut (ahh it was wonderful), hot tub, and a shower. By the way thanks Chaz for throwing me down on the floor to sleep, I really appreciated it. That rubbermaid top did not provide much warmth haha
