June 2, 2010—-Tuba City, AZ to Kayenta, AZ (73 Miles)
Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs it down, but a good word cheers it up.

So we were all happy to leave Tuba City and move on to some better city where theft is a little less. Nothing got stolen, but we had a close call yesterday as we were ending the day’s leg. Anyway that’s another story…..
Today, after the dedication and prayer we quickly headed out and were soon traveling on a flat terrain outside of the city. Me and Chaz took the front and set a comfortable cadence throughout the first leg of the day. As we neared lunch we dismounted our bikes I had an opportunity to talk to a very eclectic group (British, Czech, Australian, and American) who were all a part of a cause named World Harmony. This group is actually running relays while carrying a torch across 48 states throughout the US not to raise money but only to make community’s more harmonious. Their cause is bewildering and they have been in existence for over 3 decades. I could have easily stayed and listened to the British accent for hours but we had to get moving to not slow down their 2 mile pace relay.
As we neared Kayenta, we had our first glimpse of many red rocked monoliths/batholiths which was definitely a change in the landscape that gave me the extra push to finish strong. We finally arrived in Kayenta passing a Sonic, McDonalds, and another convenient store. We had the opportunity of staying in a First Baptist Church which had all the necessities we needed…showers, kitchen, and restrooms. It was a spacious place which is something much needed. Wade cooked a BA supper and strummed the guitar like a beast….thanks Wade.
